Focusing on British aviation of WW2, here is my drawing (after 23 hours of work) of a Spitfire flying over war-time London.
All done in HB and 4B pencil, on A2 paper.
The scanner used to capture the drawing was not fantastic, so the quality has been reduced dramatically from the real piece. I hope you all respect this fact.
Although the obvious aim was to make the Spitfire as realistic as possible, I also wanted to create an exact interpretation of WW2 London beneath it, so I spent most of my time on the buildings. Since it is on A2 paper it would be very easy for someone to face it only a few inches away and criticise the accuracy if I wasn't careful.

haha well its true.. you are truly amazing in your drawings !! >< A2 is hugeee omg .. that would have taken me a year.. its taking me a few months just to finish this dam A3 one.. although i haven't really been trying and left it on the side of my desk.. all dusty xD
What I did with this piece is I took hundreds of photos of a real Spitfire (I live in the area where a lot of RAF operations were based during WW2) and then I picked one of the photos which gave the feeling that it was flying out of the picture - I did a simple line copy of the photo and applied different backgrounds on a computer, and the background I chose was of London during WW2 - With the angle and background sorted, it was just a matter of drawing everything as accurately as possible!

I took some actual photos myself. It was really impressive being next to a real one, but living in Lincolnshire I see quite a few WW2 aircraft. There are a few Lancaster bases nearby which I take great interest in.
My next drawing (which I'm starting tomorrow for my exam) will feature the Lancaster but in a subtle way
